Mike & Jessie

This is my good friend Mike. I was lucky enough to be his guide at our event in 2017 and have mentored him since. I have taken him to his medical treatments, spent most Christmas mornings and birthdays with him and helped him on Sundays when he used the little money he had to host a BBQ and feed his community on the street. The gratitude, generosity and care he has shown not only to me, and also to his community is inspiring. He has been the greatest life teacher and he constantly says "he is too blessed to be stressed". In planning this inaugural event in Australia (SE QLD & VIC) I am reminded (with gratitude) of the village it took to bring this to fruition in the US. I am very excited to bring this event home to Australia, to create connection and joy.

I am very proud to say that Mike lives in a house where he rents rooms out to transitioning homeless. I am in constant awe of the continued compassion he shows. He is a true testament of triumph out of adversity.

Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It's a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity.” - Pema Chodron
